Preciosa Flat Back Crystals - Rugby Ball Embellishment

A few weeks ago, the creative team at Bluestreak Crystals decided to add some sparkly glamour to a rugby ball with Preciosa Flat Back Crystals to celebrate the Six Nations Rugby Tournament!

Six Nations Championship

For those of us who need some context, the “Six Nations Championship” (known as the “Guinness Six Nations” for sponsorship reasons) is a yearly international men's rugby union competition between the teams of England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales.

The tournament is organised by the unions of the six participating nations under the banner of Six Nations Rugby, who are responsible for the promotion and operation of the men's, women's and under-20s tournaments. Rugby is very similar to American Football and it is a source of many heightened emotions each time the tournament reaches its nail biting conclusion!

Rhinestone Embellishment

Below you will find Part 2 of this embellishment project, showing that oh so satisfying moment when the team complete the project by placing that final crystal.

For this embellishment project the team used a combination of Serinity Flatback Crystals and Preciosa Flat Back Crystals in Siam, Light Siam and Emerald, achieving a best possible blend of colours for the iconic England Rose, which is heavily associated with the English Rugby Club. Our time lapse video allows you to watch our creative team at work as they embellish the rugby ball, which had previously been spray painted white in several coats of leather friendly paint with Serinity and Preciosa Flatback Crystals. For this ornamental tribute to the game our team used Gem Tac glue which is a strong tacky glue with a precision applicator nozzle making it perfect for placing just enough glue for each individual crystal without any excess or mess. To place the crystals our team used the Doubled Ended Wax Picker Pen to pick up and place the crystals and used the Magic Sorting Tray so safely store the stones while in use.
